Gaming Ideas for Quarantine!
With the current pandemic and quarantines, people are staying home/inside more than ever. And with some companies starting to limit bandwidth (to help with remote healthcare needs) now is the perfect time for some offline gaming. Whether alone, or stuck with family, here are a few ideas of great games to play that are fun and won’t suck up your bandwidth!
Super Bomberman R (Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Steam)
Super Bomberman R was developed by Konami and released first on the Nintendo Switch with ports to PS4, Xbox One, and Steam soon after. This is a great multiplayer/party game where you must beat the other players by blowing them up with the bombs you dropped. To get to them, you must use your bombs to destroy obstacles in your way which can reveal power ups that you can strategically use. Or you can play the story mode to earn in game currency and unlock new characters, stages, and more. Plus, it’s rated E 10+ for cartoon violence, so it’s age appropriate for everyone ages 10 and up.
Castle Crashers Remastered (Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Steam)
Castle Crashers is a multiplayer fantasy hack and slash game released on multiple platforms by The Behemoth (makers of Alien Hominid). You can play up to 4 players on local multiplayer defending your realm from enemies and wacky bosses. It’s a side-scrolling type game reminiscent of Golden Axe. It’s also rated E 10+ so another excellent game for the family.
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt (Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Steam, GOG)
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is a fantastic single player action role playing game. You play in the third person perspective as Geralt, a monster hunter known as a Witcher, who is in search of his missing adoptive daughter. She’s currently on the run from the Wild Hunt, an otherworldly force bent on capturing her and using her powers for their own ends. The game was released and published by CD Projekt and it’s based on the fantasy series of books, The Witcher, by Andrzej Zapkowski. This game is rated M for Mature 17+ so it’s not for young family members as the game has violence, nudity, strong language, etc.
Ori and the Blind Forest (Xbox One, Windows 10, Steam)
Made by the Indie Company, Moon Studios, Ori and the Blind Forest is an unforgettable journey. The game follows a young orphan who is on a journey to save his home, Nibel Forest, after a series of devastating events is set into motion after a powerful storm. This gorgeous action-platformer brings the player through an emotional story that’s sure to leave a lasting impact on them. Featuring an orchestrated score, hand-painted artwork, and animated character performances, this is a single player game guaranteed to be worth the buy. Plus, this game is rated E for Everyone so the whole family can watch and enjoy!
These games are just a few of many great gaming options out there and I tried to only include games released on multiple platforms and that are relatively current that you may already have or can easily obtain for this quarantine.
