The Eternal Life of Goldman
The platformer genre has been pretty oversaturated as of late — especially within the Indie Game side of the house. It’s been pretty hard to get excited for upcoming games in this side of the house, but with Weappy’s upcoming game, The Eternal Life of Goldman, that is about to change. It is being published by THQNordic, whom also published Gothic, Alone in the Dark, Gothic, Disney’s Epic Mickey Rebrushed, and many other notable games.
The entire game of The Eternal Life of Goldman is hand drawn and hand animated using the classic frame-by-frame techniques. The company promises no AI in the creation of this game. From the preview video, the art looks gorgeous and the scenery/levels have a lot of depth to them.
The main character is an old man, but he runs like Sonic and has a cane, which can be upgraded to impart new abilities to aid in your exploration of the Archipelago. The game is a dark adventure that is based on various legends, fairy tales, and myths. Goldman explores this Archipelago in the Metroid-Vania style of platforming to find and defeat a mysterious Deity.
Currently, there is no release date available, but when it releases it will be available on PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
